Simple Pan Fried Cabanossi – is just a quick, whip up in an emergency type dish for when friends drop in for a drink. Especially when it’s footy night!

I love pan fried sausage, especially kansky with a hot English mustard, surprisingly it reminds me of camping with my family when I was young and mum would make these around the camp fire.

All you need to do is thickly slice your chosen sausage, brown one side in a medium hot pan and then turn over. Simple!

Serve with a variety of delicious mustards and sauces, your guests will love it.

Childhood flashbacks are so wonderful 🙂

Flaky, Cheesy Mushroom Puffs are perfect little mouthfuls of flaky pastry and creamy, savoury mushroom filling.

Although these were one of numerous canapĂ©s made specifically for my nana’s 90th Birthday party a couple of months ago; I will happily make finger food to freeze and serve with a glass of wine on the weekend or to reheat with a salad for lunch during the weekday.

These little morsels are sensational with their crispiness, creaminess and umami mushroom hit and most importantly can be eaten with one hand while you mingle and sip your way through the party.

When planning party food or canapés to serve to your guests, aim on having  about 8 per person. A mix of hot and cold foods that can be prepared ahead of time and simply assembled on the day.

These can be made and then frozen. When ready, place in a 200°c / 400°f oven and cook till golden and puffed.

Happy partying! Blondie

So, what do you make to feed to the masses? These Hot Smoked Salmon & Dill Tartlets are a must for six very good reasons…

  1. You can make lots of them very easily – plan on 2 to 3 per person.
  2. A great stomach filler – ideal for when drinking. Plus, it’s always such a disappointment when food doesn’t sustain you when at a party, especially when the party is around lunch time or dinner time.
  3. They can easily be eaten with one hand – very important as bubbles will be permanently occupying the other.
  4. Mess free – you want the bling to be from champagne and diamonds not drips of oil.
  5. These can be made ahead of time and then frozen, if necessary.
  6. You can serve them hot or cold – Great for parties at a park, think Glamour Picnic Parties… just don’t forget your heel protectors!
